Power Uprate Forecast October 1, 2024 U.S. NRC - PUBLIC MEETING WITH BWROG EOC
* Industry Survey results on power uprates found the following:
o Greater than 50% of sites surveyed have a level of interest/planning for one or more power uprates with a combined capacity increase of 2 GWe.
o Inflation Reduction Act production tax credits, along with the Civil Nuclear Credit program and Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill of 2021, have generated industry interest in power uprates.
o Pre-application engagement started in 2024. Potential for MUR in late 2025 and Stretch PUR in mid 2027.

NRC Power Uprate Experience October 1, 2024 US NRC - PUBLIC MEETING WITH BWROG EOC
* Over the past 20 years, NRC has approved power uprates that have given the nation's electricity grid an additional 6 GWe.
* Established processes to support those reviews.
* Data indicates an increase in the resources and time required to conduct those reviews.
* Given the forecast of multiple power uprate applications and consistent with the 2024 ADVANCE Act, we are in the process of identifying opportunities to improve and optimize our reviews.
