Interim Report of a Deviation or Failure to Comply In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 21.21(a)(2), the Tennessee Valley Authority is submitting this interim report for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFN), Units 1, 2, and 3. On January 22, 2021, a safety-related time-delay relay procured from Nutherm International, part number ETR14D3DNM015, was found to be unable to change state during a calibration bench test prior to its installation. BFN is submitting this Interim Report since this condition was entered into the BFN Corrective Action Program, but the evaluation of this condition is not expected to be complete within 60 days.
Nutherm International has agreed to take responsibility for the failure analysis and any further Part 21 reporting required by the results of their findings. Nutherm International has not determined the completion date for their failure analysis. This condition is being tracked in the BFN Corrective Action Program as Condition Report 1676419. The relay was returned to Nutherm International under Return Authorization Number 102962.
