** *Ot:1&51W' ** Limerick Drone Saga OFFICIAL USE ONLY              SECURITY-RELATED INFORMATION I contacted the NSIR Drone SME (leading the task force) Joe Rivers yesterday and he just confirmed information we've previously identified regarding the NOTAM not to loiter over NPPs and the manufacturer codes that are currently put into drone software to prevent overflights of some critical infrastructure (voluntary on theiir part at this point).
I spoke to John McGee, Security Manager at Limerick, this morning. Exelon has been working with local and federal agencies (FBI/FAA) and an investigation has been opened.
Exelon is pursuing a number of initiatives:
(b)(7)(F)
So I would say the licensee is being very proactive given that these pursuits are not free. It will be interesting to see if they can get any of these "off the ground" in time to catch the next unauthorized drone overflight.

RE: u*ooo SIU*-* Limerick Orone Saga Date:                Tuesday, August 14, 2018 10:53:27 AM True. Specifically asked the security manager if they were flying as "follow the leader" or "in formation". His response was that they were flying more randomly. Even if they are flying by a program or waypomts, rt 1s my understanding that there is still communication between the drone (UAS) and the control system. This is what they would try to locate.
Additionally, there are ways to identify the drone through its communications code if it has been appropriately registered.

RE: u*ouo SRI ..
* Limerick Drone Saga Thanks Dana. Given the behavior of the drones reported (multiple following the same flight path), it wouldn't surprise me if these were not ''piloted." Many of these drones can be programmed to traverse a route by programming GPS waypoints.
