Subject:
Crystal River Unit #3 Docket 50-302
Dear Mr. Moseley:
On June 21 we forwarded to your Mr. Knuth a written verification of a 50.55(e) design deficiency involving hydraulic snubber sight gauge leakage.
This notice offered 3 possible fixes of which #1 and #2 were definitive.
On June 30, 1976, Florida Power elected to go for what we feel is the more permanent and acceptable solution as proposed by'its supplier Power Piping Company. This solution is #1 - replacement of sightgages.
The present schedule is to start receiving the replacement sightgages in October. Installation will be performed as expediously as possible in conjunction with other scheduled plant startup work.
During the replacement process our required surveillance program will be functioning so we have not scheduled a date for completion of the changeover. We can furnish you with the new design in approximately 2 months as a final report on the fix.
Yours very truly,
?
