InourMarch28,1response.tothisquestion,itsstatedthatev'aluationworksheetsforcomponentsoutsidetheprimarycontainmentwouldnotbesubmittedunlessit'wasdeterminedthatsuchcomponentsaresubjecttoharshenvironmentsduringaLOCAorhighenergylinebreak(HELB).Anevaluationofpossibleharshenvironmentsoutsidetheprimarycontainmenthasbeencompleted.Thisevaluationindicatesthatcertaingeneralareasmaybesubjecttoharshenvironmentalconditionsoftemperatureandrelativehumidity.Thespecificresultsofthisevaluationareincludedinresponsetoguestion3.NiagaraMohawkispresentlyidentifyingequipmentintheharshenvironmentareasoutsidetheprimarycontainmentandwillsubmitcomponentqualificationevaluationworksheetsforsuchequipmentbyMarch31,1981.(}uestion3ForequipmentidentifiedinItems1and2,provideserviceconditionprofiles(i.e.,temperature,pressure,etc.asafunctionoftime).Thisdatashouldbeprovidedfordesignbasisaccidentconditionsandqualificationtestsperformed.Thisdatamay.beprovidedinprofileortabularform.ResponseServiceconditionsduetoaLOCAinsidetheNineMilePointUnit1primarycontainment,wereprovidedintheMarch5,1980NiagaraMohawksubmittal.EvaluationofharshenvironmentalconditionsduetoHELBoutsideoftheprimarycontainmentindicatesthatgenerallythereact'orbuildingandturbinebuildingmayseetemperaturesof150Fforextendedperiodsoftime,buildingdesignpressure(lessthan1psig)andrelativehumidityof100Konallelevations.Localareasmayseedirect'teamorwaterimpingementandhighertemperatures.OetailedradiationserviceconditionsoutsideoftheNineMilePointUnit1primarycontainmentfollowingaLOCAarebeingevaluated.Preliminarily,ithasbeendeterminedthatthecontainmentspraypipingoutsideoftheprimarycontainmentisthemainshinesource.Integratedradiationdosesinareaswhereradiationsensitive-equipmentmaybelocatedwillbeincludedinevaluationworksheetstobeprovidedbyMarch31,1981.guestion4EvaluatethequalificationofyourClassIEelectricalequipmentagainsttheguidelinesprovidedinAttachment4.Attachment5,"InterimStaffPositiononEnvironmentalgualificationofSafety-RelatedElectricalEquipment",providessupplementalinformationtobeusedwiththeseguidelines.Fortheequipmentidentifiedashaving"OutstandingItems"byAttachment3,provideadetailed"EquipmentgualificationPlan."Includeinthisplanspecificactionswhichwi11betakentodetermineequipmentqualificationandascheduleforcompletingtheactions. | |||
