                SUBJECT: REPORT NOS. 50-325/89-01 AND 50-324/89-01
                - Thank you for your response of June 11, 1989, to our Notice of Violation issued
                on May 4,1989, concerning activities conducted at your Brunswick facility
                under NRC License Nos. DPR 71 and 62.        We have evaluated your response and                .

                found that the response to Violation A meets the requirements of 10 CFR 2.201.
                We will examine the implementation of your corrective actions during future
                  i nspections .  It is our understanding that you intend to supplement your
                response to Violation A by August 31, 1989.
                Your denial of Violation B has also been evaluated. We agree with your
                  statement that there was a "... lack of specific examples of nonconformances,
                  . . .in the report."    As to what specific examples were discussed during the
                  inspection, any pursuit of that subject at thi.s time would only be a
                  conjectural comparison of what the inspector said versus what the warehouse
                  foreman thought he heard. Therefore, Violation B (50-325,324/89-01-02) is                        f
                withdrawn and Inspector Followup Item 50-325,324/89-01-05, " Storage and
                  Protection of Components," is opened.          The storage conditions and the
                  effectiveness of monitoring by Carolina Power and Light management and
                  Brunswick Nuclear Plant Quality Assurance / Quality Control will be revisited
                  in a future inspection.
