EVENTS, GENERIC LETTER 83-28, POSITION 2.1 PART.2 VENDOR INTERFACE FOR REACTOR TRIP SYSTEM COMPONENTS (TAC NO. 52842)

Generic Letter 83-28 (GL 83-28) requested licensees of operating reactors,-

applicants for operating licenses and holders of construction permits to respond to certain positions resulting from the staff's review of the anticipated transient without scram (ATWS) events at the Salem Nuclear Plant.

By letters dated November 4, 1983, November 19, 1984 and April 1,1988,' the

-licensee for GGNS (Systems Energy Resources, Inc.) provided, among other things, a response to GL 83-28, Position 2.1 Part 2 regarding interface programs between the licensee and the vendor for reactor trip system components.

The NRC staff has completed its review of GL 83-28, Position 2.1 Part 2. 'The -

staff's safety evaluation is enclosed. The staff concludes that the licensee's response to Position 2.1 Part 2 is acceptable.
