DXTM System being provided to Watts Bar Unit 2 (WBT) as part of the WBT Completion Project [

]" meets the seismic requirements specified in U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Regulatory Guide 1.133, "Loose-Part Detection Program for the Primary System of Light-Cooled Reactors" (Reference 1), and maintains structural integrity in accordance with the requirements of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Incorporated (IEEE)

Standard 344-1987, "IEEE Recommended Practice for Seismic Qualification of Class 1E Equipment for Nuclear Power Generating Stations" (Reference 2), when subjected to the WBT-specific operating basis earthquake (OBE) and safe shutdown earthquake (SSE) seismic events. Regulatory Guide 1.133 (Reference 1) requires that components of the loose parts detection system in the primary system should be designed and installed to perform their functions following all seismic events that do not require plant shutdown. Recording equipment need not function without maintenance following the specific seismic event, provided the audio and visual alarm capability remains functional.
