After submittal of the proposed alternative, the NRC published in the Federal Register on January 17, 2018, a rule amending 10 CFR 50.55a. The rule includes the incorporation by reference of Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.147, Revision 18. RG 1.147, Revision 18 approves ASME Code Case N-786-1 for unconditional use. As such, SNC is withdrawing the request to use ASME Code Case N-786-1. | |||

In letter dated July 3, 2017 Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) submitted for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) review and approval, proposed Alternative GEN-ISI-ALT-2017-01 for the use of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Code Case N-786-1, for Hatch Nuclear Plant (HNP) Units 1 and 2, Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP) Units 1 and 2, and Vogtle Electric Generating Plant (VEGP) Units 1 and 2.
After submittal of the proposed alternative, the NRC published in the Federal Register on January 17, 2018, a rule amending 10 CFR 50.55a.
