U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Public Meeting Summary Title: NRC Participation in the May 25, 2017 Public Meeting of the Vermont Nuclear Decommissioning Citizen's Advisory Panel on the Proposed License Transfer for the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (CAC NO. L53175)
Date of Meeting: Thursday, May 25, 2017 Location: Brattleboro Area Middle School, Brattleboro, VT Type of Meeting: Category 3 Purpose of the Meeting: The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the proposed license transfer of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (VY) from Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (Entergy), to NorthStar Group Services (NorthStar) for the purpose of expedited decommissioning of VY.
The meeting notice it is publicly available in the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at accession number ML17132A362. The meeting agenda is enclosed (see Enclosure 1). Other details of the meeting can be found on the NDCAP website at: http://publicservice.vermont.gov/electric/ndcap. General Details: The meeting was held from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Four NRC staff members participated in the NRC presentation and four other NRC staff were also present. The meeting was convened by the Chair of the Vermont Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel (NDCAP), Ms. Kate O'Connor. Fourteen of the NDCAP, and approximately 100 members of the public, were present. The meeting began with a short overview on the work of the NDCAP and an introduction of the members present. Ms. O'Connor then introduced the invited presenters from Entergy, NorthStar, and the NRC. After the presentations, the NRC and/or Entergy/NorthStar took questions and comments first from the members of the NDCAP and then from the public assembled in the meeting room.
