By letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) dated December 21, 2007, Exelon Generation Company, LLC, submitted a request to establish total battery connector resistance acceptance criteria in technical specifications surveillance requirements 3.8.4.2 and 3.8.4.5, for the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2.
By letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) dated December 21, 2007, Exelon Generation Company, LLC, submitted a request to establish total battery connector resistance acceptance criteria in technical specifications surveillance requirements 3.8.4.2 and 3.8.4.5, for the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2.  
The NRC staff is reviewing your submittal and has determined that additional information is required to complete the review. The specific information requested is addressed in the enclosure to this letter. During a discussion with your staff on July 9, 2008, it was agreed that you would provide a response 30 days from the date of this letter.

ENCLOSURE REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION QUAD CITIES NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-254 AND 50-265 In reviewing the Exelon Generation Company=s (Exelon=s) submittal dated December 21, 2007, related to the request to establish total battery connector resistance acceptance criteria in technical specifications (TS) surveillance requirements (SR) 3.8.4.2 and 3.8.4.5, for the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station (QCNPS), Units 1 and 2, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has determined that the following information is needed in order to complete its review:
=s (Exelon=s) submittal dated December 21, 2007, related to the request to establish total battery connector resistance acceptance criteria in technical specifications (TS) surveillance requirements (SR) 3.8.4.2 and 3.8.4.5, for the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station (QCNPS), Units 1 and 2, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has determined that the following information is needed in order to complete its review:

In the November 28, 2006, Component Design Bases Inspection report referenced in your license amendment request, the NRC inspectors identified that the 125 volt direct current safety-related batteries would be incapable of meeting their design basis function if the inter-cell connection resistance were allowed to increase to the existing TS allowed value (i.e., 150 micro-ohms). Describe the basis for maintaining the existing150 micro-ohm inter-cell connection resistance value in TS SR 3.8.4.2 and 3.8.4.5.
: 1.
