Dear Mr. Denton:

This letter supplements and supercedes our letter of April 15,

1983, from Mr. R. F. Hering to Mr. H. R. Denton on Requirements for Emergency

Response

Capability (AEP:NRC:773).

The purpose of this letter is to identify target dates and commitment dates for the Safety Parameter Display System, Emergency Operating Facility, Technical Support Center, Detailed Control Room Design Review, Regulatory Guide 1.97 Instrumentation and Emergency Operating Procedures activity identified in that letter.

Since final implementation dates are contingent upon all other NRC required Emergency Response Facility activities, many of those dates can only be considered targets (i.e.

a goal to be achieved, but not necessarily fixed commitments).

Specific commitment dates are therefore limited to status reports on these activities.

We have listed in Attachment 1 the commitments as well as key target dates for each of the activities discussed above.

When we transmit the status reports to you, we will appraise you of any changes to the target dates and the reasons such changes are necessary.

The information contained in this letter has been discussed and agreed to by members of your staff during discussions following receipt of our letter AEP:NRC:773.
