DOCKET NO:
Unit power was reduced to 594 RTP on 910216 to allow for east and west main feedpump turbine condenser cleaning. The time period the unit was at the reduced power level was extended due to problems experienced with the east main feedpump turbine speed control during the power reduction. Unit power was restored to 100% RTP on 910221.
UNIT NAME:
A forced power reduction to 70% RTP occurred on 910222. The power reduction was caused by the negative reactivity effect of Xenon buildup following the power increase to 100~o RTP on 910221. The primary water system makeup to the RCS had to be isolated to perform maintenance on a failed primary water system valve which removed the ability to dilute the reactor coolant. Repairs were completed and power increased to 1004 RTP starting 2025 hours on 910222. The unit reached 100% RTP at 0639 hours on 910223. The unit exited the reporting period at 100% RTP.

Schimmel (616) 465-5901 March 5, 1991 1 of 1 MONTHLY OPERATING ACTIVITIES Februar 1991 HIGHLIGHTS The unit entered the reporting period at 100% Rated Thermal Power.

Unit power was reduced to 594 RTP on 910216 to allow for east and west main feedpump turbine condenser cleaning.

The time period the unit was at the reduced power level was extended due to problems experienced with the east main feedpump turbine speed control during the power reduction. Unit power was restored to 100%

RTP on 910221.

Repairs were completed and power increased to 1004 RTP starting 2025 hours0.0234 days
0.563 hours
0.00335 weeks
7.705125e-4 months
on 910222.

The unit reached 100%

RTP at 0639 hours0.0074 days
0.178 hours
0.00106 weeks
2.431395e-4 months
on 910223.

The unit exited the reporting period at 100%

RTP.

Gross electrical generation for the month of February was 693600 MWH.

DETAILS 02/16/91 1200 Commenced unit power decrease to 594 RTP for east and west main feedpump turbine condenser cleaning.

1650 The unit is at 594 RTP.

02/21/91 1440 Commenced unit power increase to 100% RTP.

02/22/91 0144 The unit is at 1004 RTP.

02/22/91 0750 The boration flowpath LCO is entered.

Reactor power drifts down to 70> RTP due to Xenon buildup while all dilution flowpaths are isolated for repair of the boration flowpath leak.

2025 The unit is at 704 RTP.

Commenced unit power increase to 1004 RTP.

02/23/91 0639 The unit is at 100~ RTP.
