Dear Mr. Denton:

NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNIT NO. 1 REPLACEMENT OF LOT 1 BARTON TRANSMITTERS

?^

Based on discussions with members of your staff, we are requesting an extension of the time to replace the North Anna Unit 1 Lot 1 Barton Transmitters to the third refueling outage of the unit. The current commitment calls for trans-mitter replacement at the second refueling outage.

We have discussed the replacement of North Anna Unit 2 Barton Lot 1 transmitters and your staff has agreed that rep k_ement at the second Unit 2 refueling is consistent with current transmitter availability.

Since the current commitment to replace the Unit 1 transtaitters at the second refueling outage (late Fall, 1980) cannot be achieved due to the unavailability of qualified transmitters, we wish to delay replacement until the third re-fueling. This would put replacements at both units in the same time period and insure the availability of qualified transmitters.

We believe that this schedule is the best that the availability of transmitters can support and will not compromise the reliability of the presently installed transmitters.
