SYSTEMATIC ASSESSMENT OF LICENSEE PERFORMANCE, REPORT NO. 50-395/85-47

This refers to the NRC's Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP)

Board Report for your V. C. Summer facility which was sent to you on March 12,

1986; our meeting of March 18, 1986, at which we discussed this report; and

your written comments dated April 21, 1986, relative to the report.

Your written reply emphasized and described in detail the measures and follow-up

actions you have accomplished and are further planning to improve the functional

areas rated as Category 3 by the Board, specifically Fire Protection and Plant

Operations.

A careful examination of these comments lead to our conclusion that

your corrective action is plausible and, if continued, should lead to an

improvement trend.

I have also concluded, based upon *your written comments and my review, that

information contained in the SALP Board Report regarding degradation of management

controls and eddy current testing of the steam generator tubes was inaccurate.

The SALP Board Report has been modified to reflect the correct information.

These modifications are described in the attached Errata sheets.

are included herein to update your copy of the SALP Board Report.
