The request was submitted in response to a notice by the NRC staff that provided an opportunity for a hearing on renewal of the operating license which authorizes Firstenergy Nuclear Operating Companys Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 to operate for an additional 20-year period beyond the period specified in the current license. The Notice of an Opportunity for a Hearing was published in the Federal Register at 75 Fed. Reg. 65528, October 25, 2010.
