Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant Instrumentation and Control Systems Branch Draft Safety Evaluation Report Open Item 77 Su lemental Information The Staff has requested information as to whether Shearon Harris intends to implement a Class 1E shunt trip attachment modification to the reactor trip system as required by NRC Generic Letter 83-28 Item 4.3.

~Res onse Shearon Harris will implement the shunt trip attachment modification as required by Generic Letter 83-28. The modifications will utilize the Westinghouse Owners'roup (WOG) generic design, which was submitted to the NRC on June 14, 1983 by J. J. Sheppard, chairman of the WOG by letter OG-101.

The modifications used to implement the automatic shunt trip function and the power supply to the shunt trip coil will be Class 1E.
