Waterford SES Unit 3 Docket 50-382 Initial Leak Rate Testing Results

Dear Sir:

As part of our response to item III.D.l.1 of NUREG-0737, Louisiana Power &

Light Company committed to perform leak rate testing on liquid systems likely to contain radiation and to submit the results of this testing to the NRC for review prior to initial criticality. In compliance with this commitment (Section 1.9.37 of the Waterford 3 FSAR), I am pleased to provide the initial leakage rates for the systems in question.

The following leakage rates were determined in accordance with Waterford 3 procedure PE-5-007 Rev. 1, "Survellance Procedure - RAB Fluid System Leak Test", and found to be acceptable.

Subsystem or Piping Section Leak Rate Containment Spray Header "A" Less than one (1) cc/ min.

Containment Spray Header "B" Less than one (1) cc/ min.

LPSI Header "A" 2.5 cc/ min.

LPSI Header "B" 1.0 cc/ min.

HPSI Header "A" 0.5 cc/ min.

HPSI Header "B" 2.9 cc/ min.

HPSI Header "A/B" Less than one (1) cc/ min.

HRA System "A" 93 secm.

HRA System "B" (in conjunction with 1050 secm.

PASS)
