DOCKET NUMBER 50-483 CALLAWAY PLANT UNIT 1 UNION ELECTRIC CO.

FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NPF-30 AMENDMENT 1 TO APPLICATION FOR RENEWED OPERATING LICENSE Reference 1: ULNRC-05830 dated December 15, 2011 By Reference 1, Union Electric Company (Ameren Missouri) submitted a license renewal application (LRA) for Callaway Plant Unit 1. The purpose of this letter is to provide Amendment 1 to the Callaway LRA.

The changes being made to the LRA per Amendment 1 are presented and addressed in the enclosures to this letter. Enclosure 1 identifies Callaway Aging Management Program (AMP) changes that are being made to (1) update operating experience, (2) reflect completed or revised enhancements/commitments, (3) reflect recent plant modifications, and (4) incorporate improvements to the LRA. Enclosure 2 contains the affected LRA pages with changes shown as electronic mark-ups (deletions crossed out and insertions underlined). As a reviewer aid, all pages of each Appendix B aging management program section are provided, including unchanged pages, when there is a change on any of the pages in that section. Enclosure 3 contains LRA changes that are being made to incorporate aging evaluation process changes that have been implemented to identify components that may be susceptible to boric acid corrosion. The aging evaluation process now requires components be evaluated for the potential for loss of material due to borated water leakage if the component is in the vicinity of systems with internal environments of reactor coolant or treated borated water that could potentially leak borated water on the adjacent components .
