Gentlemen:
l' On July 17, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. Ian Barnes of a deficiency.
observed during routine inspections involving conditions outside of the established acceptance criteria for the Containment Spray Pump 1 and 3 motors.
This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisionsof10CFR50.55(e).
.Specifically, the air gap between the rotor and stator have exceeded 10% of the average measured air gaps.
The method of determining " excessive" is prescribed per maintenance procedure EMI,315. Additional evaluation is required to determine the impact of these conditions.
Our next report on this issue will be submitted no later than October 16, 1987.
