COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 SEISMIC QUALIFICATION OF AS-BUILT 480 VOLT POWER CENTERS SDAR: CP-87-06 (INTERIM REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On April 6,1987, we verbally notified your Mr. Cliff Hale of a potentially reportable item involving 480 volt, 2000 KVA dry type transformers. These components were originally seismically qualified by the vendor (Westinghouse) with the primary feed high voltage cables routed through the bottom of the transformer enclosure. In the CPSES installed configuration, the feed cables were routed through the top of the enclosure, possibly invalidating the seismic qualification.
We have developed a schedule of task description completion dates required to complete the evaluation to determine the possible impact upon the safety of plant operations. The schedule indicates the final report will be complete August 15, 1987.
We will submit our next report on this issue no later than September 4,1987.
Very truly yours,
/
