SUBJECT:
COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 FSAR AMENDMENT 62 DESCRIPTION Gentlemen:
Amendment 62 to the CPSES FSAR was transmitted to you under a separate cover letter, TXX-6364, dated April 1, 1987.
Amendment 62 introduces a new format allowing computerization of the amendment change bars and numbers in the TV Electric word processing system.
This computerization will help ensure consistency and accuracy in the FSAR. The new system places a single change bar in the margin by each line of a sentence which contains a change and places the appropriate amendment number at the first line of the affected sentence. The highest amendment number will take priority for any line involving more than one sentence.
In instances where more than one sentence in succession in a paragraph have the same amendment number, the subsequent numbers are not printed.
If an NRC question is answered within a paragraph, its number will appear at the beginning of the paragraph.
The primary differences between our previous format and our new one are that changes are now marked on a sentence rather than on a line basis and questions are marked on a paragraph rather than on a line basis. Additional sections in the CPSES FSAR wili be converted to the new format in future FSAR Amendments as these sections require revision.
Amendment 62 includes revisions addressing the following general topics:
(1) A correction in the directional indicators for the Unit 1 Containment and Safeguard Buildings Plan (Figure 1.2-10).
(2) The addition of cable separation criteria for instrumentation and control circuits (Section 8.3).
(3) An update to the organizational descriptions (Sections 13.1, 13.2, 14.2, 17.1 and 17.2).

Section 8.3 Editorial:

8.3-74 Advance change (TXX-6185) proposed to delineate that existing separation criteria. applies to any raceway containing power cables. This change is not being made as the revision on page 8.3-75 clarifies this point.
8.3-75 Revision:
Deletes " maintained at", since value listed represents a minimum criteria. Adds matrix table which describes the separation criteria to be used for instrumentation and control cables, conduits, and cable trays.
The change has been reworded from the advance change proposed in TXX-6185 to clarify the application of the criteria; however, the criteria itself and all associated notes and references remain unchanged.
8.3-76 Revision: Changes " maintained" to " preferred", since value listed represents the desired separation rather than minimum criteria. Adds reference to the instrumentation and control separation criteria matrix in paragraph 8.3.1.4, Item 5.
8.3-78 Revision: Adds reference to the instrumentation and control separation criteria matrix in paragraph 8.3.1.4, Item 5.
8.3-97 Editorial: Adds two new references to Section 8.3 which are the supporting test reports used to generate the matrix in paragraph 8.3.1.4, Item 5 (page 8.3-75).
