DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 WEATHER PROTECTION FOR CLASS 1E COMPONENTS SDAR: CP-86-68 (INTERIM REPORT)
Dear Mr. Johnson:
On October 2,1986, we verbally notified your Mr. Ian Barnes of a deficiency regarding provisions for weather protection of Class IE components used in outdoor installations. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). We have submitted interim reports logged TXX-6081 and TXX-6124 dated October 31, 1986, and November 26, 1986, respectively.
A field verification program is currently being developed to inspect weather proofing on all outdoor Class IE junction / terminal boxes. The results of these efforts are required prior to our assessment of the possible effects of this issue on the safety of plant operations. Where deficiencies are identified, deficiency and nonconformance reports will be issued.
We anticipate submitting our next report by May 15, 1987.
