Dear Mr. Johnson:

On February 6,1986, we verbally notified your Mr. T. F. Westerman of a 1

deficiency involving the control of stamps used to identify Super Hilti Kwik 4l Bolts.

This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the

.3 -

provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). Our latest interim report, logged TXX-4963, was "e

submitted on August 22, 1986.

l As noted in our previous response, the portion of this deficiency which 5

involves ASME installations has been completed without the identification of conditions adverse to safety. All installations were evaluated and determined to be acceptable "as-is".

For the portion of this issue involving non-ASME applications (such as cable tray supports, structural steel, conduit supports, and electrical equipment y,

installations), our evaluation is continuing.

This effort, which consists of

?

ultrasonic testing of a sample of non-ASME installations, must be completed a

prior to our assessment of the possible adverse effects of this deficiency.

F' These testing activities are currently scheduled for completion on February E_

27, 1987.

4 We anticipate submitting our next report by March 20, 1987.

Very truly yours,
