COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 6.9KV SWITCHGEAR BREAKER JACK SHAFT WELD FAILURE SDAR: CP-86-14 (INTERIM REPORT)
Dear Mr. Johnson:
On March 11, 1986, we verbally notified your Mr. T. F. Westerman of a defi-ciency involving a weld failure in a component of a Class IE 6.9KV switchgear breaker. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
We have submitted an interim report logged TXX-4758, dated April 10, 1986.
Inspection activities of the switchgear breakers are presently being con-ducted for Unit 1.
This inspection effort is anticipated to be complete in July, 1986. Unit 2 inspection activities will begin following the comple-tion of Unit 1 inspection activities.
The reportability of this issue is dependent upon the results of these inspections.
We are continuing our evaluation and anticipate submitting our next report by July 29, 1986.
