The following information was provided by … The following information was provided by the Utah Division of Radiation Control (the Division) via phone and email:</br>Canyon Fuel Company, LLC contacted the Division to report that a source holder containing source material was removed from a fixed gauge by an electrician (non-radiation worker) working at the mine. The shutter was closed when the source holder was removed from the housing. This person was not authorized to remove the source holder. </br>The source holder containing source material was removed due to rising water levels in the mine, which exceeded pumping capacity, to prevent the loss of equipment. </br>The source holder with the source material is now secured in a lead-lined barrel, which is stored inside a closet secured with two locks.</br>Neither dosimetry nor a survey meter was used during this process.</br>An investigation by the Division is pending.</br>NMED Event Report: UT260002</br>Model: Coalscan Model 2100</br>Serial Number: 4503</br>Source: 5 millicurie Cs-137 / 100 millicurie Am-241 millicurie Cs-137 / 100 millicurie Am-241 +
