The following is a synopsis of a phone report received from Curium USPET LLC.: At 1907 EST on January 21, 2021, the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) at the Curium USPET LLC facility in Noblesville, IN was notified that one hand/foot monitor was alarming. Upon investigation it was determined to be a valid alarm. The area was surveyed and revealed two small areas of Strontium-82 contamination, apparently transferred from shoe cover booties. The total contamination was 640 microCuries, all within the Future Production Area (10,450 sq. ft. area). Decontamination of the area was initiated and completed at 1630 EST on January 22, 2021. The three decontamination workers each received 0.4 mREM dose during the clean-up process. No contamination escaped the Future Production Area room. Source/cause of the contamination is being investigated.

The following retraction was received via phone from Curium USPET LLC.: After a more detailed review, the licensee and the NRC Region determined the event does not meet the requirements for a 24 hour report. Notified R3DO (Felz-Adorno) and NMSS Events Notification via email.
