Short cycling refers to a heating or cooling device which is forced to restart in short intervals. In other words, it is forced to retry its function much sooner than it should. There may be several reasons for something to short cycle. For example: instruments are reading incorrectly, demand is higher than designed, or the cooling isn't working as well as it should.
