Notification of Changes to the Emergency Response Data System The purpose of this letter is to notify the NRC of pending changes to the Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) at Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station (QCNPS). These changes affect the ERDS transmission format and computer communication protocol.

Therefore, NRC notification Is required Inaccordance with subpart 3.b of 10 CFR 50 Appendix E,Section VI, "Emergency Response Data System.8 NRC notification Is required thirty days prior to implementation. The revisions to ERDS are currently scheduled for implementation at QCNPS on September24, 2003.

Currently, ERDS transmits data collected and formatted by the Point History program, which receives data from the station process computer. A revised ERDS Interface program has been developed that WUil collect and format data from the Pi Data Historian, which also receives data from the process computer. None of the existing data points transmitted by ERDS will be modified.

Additionally, the computer system protocol has been upgraded to meet the requirements of NUREG 1394, Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) Implementation, Section ll.B.1.
