UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 ALL AGREEMENT STATES INDIANA, WEST VIRGINIA ANNUAL COUNT OF ACTIVE RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL LICENSES IN THE NATIONAL MATERIALS PROGRAM (STC-26-005)
Purpose:
To update the count of radioactive material specific licenses, general licenses/registrations, and generally licensed devices currently active in the National Materials Program.
Background:
Annually, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requests that all Agreement States provide the number of specific radioactive material licenses currently active under their jurisdiction. Additionally, the NRC is requesting that all Agreement States who have regulations compatible with Title 10 Code of the Federal Regulations (CFR) 31.5, regarding general licenses, update the total number of general licenses/registrations and generally licensed devices currently active under their jurisdiction.
Discussion: The latest count of specific material licenses in the National Materials Program as of February 7, 2025, is provided in Enclosure 1. Please revise the total number of currently active specific material licenses under your States jurisdiction and indicate how many of those licenses are categorized as either industrial, medical, academic or other.
The NRC also requests that all Agreement States provide a list of active licensees with special nuclear material (SNM) that requires a physical protection plan in accordance with 10 CFR 73.67 of the NRC regulations. See 10 CFR 150.14 for the quantities of SNM that require a physical protection plan.
