ALL AGREEMENT STATES, CONNECTICUT NOTIFICATION OF UPCOMING PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE RESULTS OF THE RETROSPECTIVE REVIEW OF ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS INITIATIVE AND PATH FORWARD (STC-21-033)
Purpose:
To provide notice that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, will be holding a public meeting on June 30, 2021, regarding the NRCs Retrospective Review of Administrative Requirements (RROAR) initiative.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the results of the RROAR evaluation and path forward for this effort.
Background:
The NRC will be issuing, on approximately June 18, 2021, a Federal Register notice to provide the results of the RROAR evaluation, which was to identify potentially outdated or duplicative administrative requirements that may be modified or eliminated through the rulemaking process without an adverse effect on public health or safety, the common defense and security, protection of the environment, or regulatory effectiveness and efficiency.
The RROAR evaluation identified several administrative regulations in Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 20, Standards for Protection Against Radiation; Part 37, Physical Protection of Category 1 and Category 2 Quantities of Radioactive Material; and Part 70, Domestic Licensing of Special Nuclear Material, in the scope of RROAR that have compatible Agreement States regulations.
Discussion: The meeting will be held virtually as a Webinar on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The NRC will publish a notice providing the location, time, and agenda of the future public meetings on https://www.regulations.gov and on the NRCs public meeting website at least 10 calendar days before the meeting.
Stakeholders should monitor the NRCs public meeting website (https://www.nrc.gov/public-involve/public-meetings/) for information about the public meetings. The meeting notice will include the agenda, meeting presentation, registration/log-in, WebEx, and bridgeline information.
