FOIA-McNally, - I seek access to a copy of the 09/11/2024 2024-Alice results and assumptions of the 000556 analysis of San Onofre Generating Station (SONGS) systems for complete submergence to a depth of 125 feet, including the temperature and cask and flood water salinity and the assumed temperature of the spent fuel cask. In addition, I request information of how much time the spend fuel casks were submerged in the high-salinity water and an evaluation of the cans integrity subsequent to the analysis. Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Items of Interest Week Ending September 13, 2024
2024 Annual Heath Physics Counterpart Meeting
On September 4-5, 2024, the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) held the 2024 Annual Health Physics Counterpart meeting in Region IV. Approximately 40 participants from NRR, the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, the Technical Training Center, and all four regions attended. Topics of discussion included updates to the reactor oversight process, recent inspection findings, radiation monitor calibration, and significant past and on-going health physics-related issues for knowledge management. The counterpart meeting offered an invaluable opportunity for staff to share insights regarding radiation protection issues across the agency.
Public Meeting Related to Limerick Generation Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 Digital Instrumentation and Control
On September 6, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a partially closed observation meeting with Constellation Energy Generation, LLC (CEG) related to the Limerick Generation Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 digital instrumentation and control license amendment submitted September 26, 2022. The meeting was held to discuss outstanding information requested by the NRC staff that had not been provided by CEG pertaining to the topics of Equipment Qualification and Component Interface Module. CEG indicated its understanding of the issues and willingness to provide the appropriate responses. The NRC staff stated that a new estimated completion date will be provided when the NRC staff understands when the additional information will be provided.
Annual Meeting - Westinghouse Electric Company
On September 11-12, 2024, NRC staff held an annual hybrid meeting with Westinghouse Electric Company (Westinghouse) to discuss fuel performance and future plans. On September 11, Westinghouse presented updates on their high energy fuel and accident tolerant fuel programs, machine learning program for departure from nucleate boiling, pressurized water reactor and boiling water reactor fuel performance, AP300' Small Modular Reactor fuel, Cobalt-60 program, and eVinci' micro reactor. Westinghouse also provided information on their plans for future submittals. On September 12, the staff that attended the meeting in-person toured Westinghouse Churchill facility.
NRC Staff Meeting with Paducah Chamber of Commerce
On September 12, 2024, staff from NRR, NMSS, and the Office of Public Affairs met with the Paducah Chamber of Commerce at the U.S. Capitol during their annual DC Fly-in event. The staff provided an overview of the NRC, opportunities for public engagement in the licensing process, and new facility licensing and answered questions from people in attendance. There were approximately 70 people in attendance at the meeting. The questions primarily focused on community education on nuclear topics, the local communitys role in nuclear facility licensing, and how the NRC will leverage environmental assessments performed by other agencies in its review of licensing actions.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Printing Program Operation Services
On September 10, 2024, contract number 31310024C0024 was awarded to BDR Solutions LLC in Leesburg, VA. The purpose of this acquisition is to acquire technical printing support services, including support for the agencys onsite print shop and preparing documentation needed to outsource using procurement vehicles in place with the US Government Publishing Office. The period of performance is from October 12, 2024, through October 11, 2025, with four option periods. The total potential value of the contract can be up to $1,145,059.28.
Purchase of Dell Laptops and Accessories
