Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station Operational Plan Commitments

Letter from Keith R. Jury (Exelon Generation Company, LLC) to U. S. NRC, "Commitments and Plans Related to Extended Power Uprate Operation," dated January 26, 2006 This letter documents discussions between members of Exelon Generation Company, LLC (EGC) and the NRC on April 12, 2006, related to the near-term operational plans for Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station (QCNPS), Units 1 and 2 .

Following completion of the spring 2006 QCNPS Unit 2 refueling outage, QCNPS Unit 2 will be returned to service and implement the start-up test program described during the March 16, 2006, meeting between EGC and the NRC . The start-up test program includes collecting data during operation at extended power uprate (EPU) power levels . Once the EPU power level data collection effort is complete, QCNPS Unit 2 will reduce power to a pre-EPU level. QCNPS Unit 2 will remain at a pre-EPU power level until the QCNPS Unit 1 steam dryer is inspected during the planned May 2006 QCNPS Unit 1 outage. The QCNPS Unit 1 steam dryer inspection scope will consist of, as a minimum, those areas necessary to confirm conclusions reached regarding the cause of the QCNPS Unit 2 steam dryer damage described in our April 10, 2006 conference call .

EGC intends to continue the dialog and interactions with the NRC as described during our March 16, 2006, meeting and in the referenced letter regarding resolution of the concerns related to QCNPS EPU long-term operation .

In the referenced letter, EGC updated regulatory commitments regarding operation of Dresden Nuclear Power Station (DNPS), Units 2 and 3, and Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station

April 14, 2006 U . S . Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 (QCNPS), Units 1 and 2, at extended power uprate (EPU) conditions. Those commitments remain in effect and are not altered by this letter.
