No: IV-13-029 September 9, 2013 CONTACT: Lara Uselding, 817-200-1519 Victor Dricks, 817-200-1128 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Rayomand Kumana as the new Resident Inspector at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant located near Glen Rose, Texas.

Rayomand Kumanas technical and regulatory experience will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission to protect people and the environment by ensuring the safe operation of nuclear power plants, said acting NRC Region IV Administrator Steven Reynolds.

In 2009, Kumana joined the NRCs Region IV office in Arlington, Texas, as a project engineer. Prior to joining the NRC, he was a naval science instructor at Texas A&M University at Galveston. Kumana has served in the Navy onboard the submarine USS Springfield and in Afghanistan as an Afghan National Army trainer. He holds a bachelors in mathematics from Rice University and a masters in environmental management from the University of Houston at Clear Lake.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC Resident Inspectors.

Kumana joins Senior Resident Inspector John Kramer. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
