Viktoria Mitlyng, 630-829-9662 Prema Chandrathil, 630-829-9663 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Quad Cities Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Zach Coffman as the new resident inspector at the Quad Cities nuclear power plant. The two-unit plant is located in Cordova, Illinois, approximately 20 miles northeast of Moline, and operated by Exelon Generation Co. LLC.

We are pleased to have an inspector with Zachs background, training and experience in the field helping to oversee plant operations. His attention-to-detail will help ensure the plants are regulated to ensure safety, said NRC Region III Administrator Jack Giessner.

Coffman joined the NRC in 2018 as a reliability and risk analyst in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation in the agencys headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. He later joined the Resident Inspector Development Program in Region I.

Before joining the agency, he served six years in the U.S. Navy as a reactor operator aboard the USS George Washington, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

Coffman holds a bachelors degree in computer science from the College of Charleston in South Carolina.

Each commercial nuclear power plant site in the United States has at least two resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day operations at the plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections and monitoring significant work projects.

Coffman joins NRC senior resident inspector Christopher Hunt at the Quad Cities facility.
