NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION Office of Public Affairs Telephone 301/415-820 Washington, DC 20555-0001 E-mail: opa@nrc.gov Web Site: www.nrc.gov No.03-093 July 16, 2003 NRC TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING JULY 25 ON QUAD CITIES NUCLEAR PLANT STEAM DRYER CRACKS AND FUTURE UPRATES Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will meet with GE Nuclear Energy and the Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) Owners Group on July 25 in Rockville, Md., to discuss the possible impact on future BWR power uprates, due to cracks in the steam dryer of Quad Cities Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 2, near Moline, Illinois.

The meeting will be held in room T-2B3 of the NRCs Two White Flint building, 11545 Rockville Pike, from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Meeting topics will include analysis of failure modes and effects, as well as screening criteria. Members of the public will have opportunities to comment and discuss the issues with NRC staff during the meeting.
