No. II-10-031 April 20, 2010 CONTACT: Roger Hannah (404) 997-4417 E-mail: OPA2@nrc.gov Joey Ledford (404) 997-4416 NRC NAMES NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR FOR OCONEE NUCLEAR PLANT NRC officials in Atlanta have selected Joyce Hamman as a new resident inspector for Duke Energys Oconee nuclear power plant, located near Seneca, S.C., about 30 miles west of Greenville.
Hamman has been a reactor inspector in the NRCs Region II office in Atlanta since 2006.
Prior to joining the NRC, she was a quality engineer at SCE&Gs Summer nuclear power plant in Jenkinsville, S.C., about 26 miles northwest of Columbia. Hamman has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina.
Joyce Hammans knowledge and commitment to safety will help us fulfill our mission of protecting people and the environment by working to ensure the Oconee plant meets all NRC regulations, said NRC Region II Administrator Luis Reyes.
Hamman joins Senior Resident Inspector Andy Sabisch and Resident Inspectors Geoff Ottenberg and Kevin Ellis, the NRC inspectors currently assigned to the Oconee plant, and Site Secretary Mary Jordan. The NRC inspectors at the Oconee plant can be reached at 864-882-6927.
