The Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) will hold a public meeting Sept. 10-12, 2009 in Rockville, Md., to discuss several items, including: final safety evaluation reports for the Indian Point, Three Mile Island, and Beaver Valley nuclear power plant license renewals; a draft regulatory guide for nuclear plant fire protection; and the draft Digital Instrumentation and Control (DI&C) Research Plan for Fiscal Years 2010-2014.

The ACRS advises the Commission, independently from the NRC staff, on safety issues related to the licensing and operation of nuclear power plants and in areas of health physics and radiation protection.

The meeting will be held in Room O-1F16 of the agencys One White Flint North building, at 11555 Rockville Pike. Sessions on Thursday, Sept. 10 and Friday, Sept. 11 will run from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A portion of the Friday meeting may be closed to discuss organizational and personnel matters that relate solely to internal personnel rules and practices of ACRS.
