Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 NRC Names New Resident Inspector At Indian Point Nuclear Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Andrew Siwy as a resident inspector at the Indian Point Energy Center in Buchanan, N.Y. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Brian Haagensen and Resident Inspector Sarah Rich at the Entergy-operated facility.

Andrew Siwys knowledge, experience and training make him a good addition to the inspection team at Indian Point, said NRC Region I Administrator Dan Dorman. Brian, Sarah and Andrew will work together to assure the plant continues to operate safely and adheres to the NRCs stringent safety requirements.

Siwy joined the NRCs Region I office in King of Prussia in 2014 and has completed a rigorous inspector qualification program. Most recently he was a project engineer in the Regions Division of Reactor Projects. He previously worked as an engineer for Duke Energy in Charlotte, N.C., and as a systems engineer at the Catawba nuclear power plant. He earned bachelors and masters degrees in nuclear engineering from Penn State and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of North Carolina.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two resident inspectors. They conduct inspections, monitor significant work projects, and interact with plant workers and the public.
