January 1987 Monthly Operating Summary Repairs on the condenser tube leakage which caused' manual shut down of the reactor at the end of December were completed on January 6, 1987, and the plant returned to Operational Condition 2 on January 8.
The unit.was manually shutdown on January ll for maintenance on several RCIC steam supply valves, as well as the Turbine Bypass and Stop Valves.
Following completion of this work, the plant was returned to Operational Condition 2 on January 21.
Continued concern with the operability of one of the RCIC steam supply motor operated valves resulted in a manual plant shutdown on January-24 to perform additional investigations including valve disassembly, and retesting utilizing a Motor Operated Valve Analysis and Test System (MOVATS). At the end of the month, the plant remained shutdown for maintenance on the RCIC, RHR and Feedwater Systems. The first low-level solidified radwaste shipment f rom.PNPP was made on January 27, and was successfully shipped, tested, accepted and buried at Barnwell, South Carolina.
