ASLB AUTHORIZATION OF LIMITED LICENSE On September 18, 1986, the presiding Atomic Safety and Licensing Board in the Braidwood Operating License Proceeding issued a Memorandum and Order authorizing the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation to issue a limited license to Commonwealth Edison for fuel loading and pr criticality testing of Unit 1.
The Authorization permits NRR to issue the limited license once it determines the licensee has met all pertinent requirements. The ASLB authorization responds to a request by Commonwealth Edison for the limited license under 10 CFR 50.57(c),
which permits the issuance of a limited Operating License prior to the completion of an ASLB proceeding. The intervenors in the case opposed the utility's request.
The utility's current estimated fuel loading date is October 15, 1986, although Region III (Chicago) considers this schedule to be somewhat optimistic. The ASLB proceeding is not expected to conclude before the estimated fuel load date.
The State of Illinois will be notified.
