Union Electric noti #ied RIII (Chicago), that four voids were found in the final pour of the dome for Unit 1.

The voids were found af ter removing unsound concrete.

The '.argest void after evacuation was seventeen feet long by twenty inches wide by six to twelve inches in deoth. The three other voids after evacuation were 2 fe et by 2 feet, 4 feet by 1 foot and 6 feet by 1 1/2 feet with a depth of 7 to 14 inches. None of the voids were open to the surface initially.

The pour was made in culy 1980.

It is not expected that construction delays will occur as a result o f tr.i s matter.

Region III will be sending inspectors to the site to follow the licensee's investigation pro g ram.

Neither RIII nor the licensee intend to issue a press release at this time.

The State of Missouri is being notified.

Region III received notification of this incident by telephone at 4:30 p.m. (CST),

December 5, 1980.
