. SUSPECTED DRUG SMOKING DEVICE FOUND INSIDE PROTECTED AREA On April 7, 1997, at approximately 11:00 a.m.,
a licensee security officer discovered a beer can in a portable toilet inside the protected area at the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant.
The portable toilet was being serviced.
Upon further investigation, the licensee determined that the beer can had apparently been configured to be used as a drug smoking device.
The portable toilet had been inspected when it was brought
- onsite, approximately one week ago.
The portable toilet was for contractor use during the upcoming outage:
The can was not identified at the time the portable toilet was brought onsite, and the licensee is reviewing the extent of the receipt search.
The licensee has notified the local law enforcement.
The licensee has inspected similar facilities and additional common areas onsite
.and is considering additional followup action.
The licensee's investigation is continuing.
The State of Florida has been notified.
Region II will continue to follow the licensee's actions.
