SUBJECT:
CONTRACT EMPLOYEE, HEART ATTACK FATALITY A boilermaker at the Surry site, employed by Babcock and Wilcox (B&W) died of a heart attack at 1:00 p.m. on July 14. The boilermaker was a foreman, supervising the repair of an oil fired auxiliary boiler.
Media interest is expected. A press release is not planned by either the NRC or the licensee. The Commonweal th of Virginia has been notified.
This preli.Iilinary notification is issued for information only and no further action by-IE is anticipated.
- The NRC Emergency Response Center received notification of this occurrence by tele-phone from*the licensee at 1:40 p.m. _on July 14.
