EARTH FILL PLACEMENT AND INSPECTION FOR UNIT 1, ERCW SPRAY POND On June 23, 1980, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) reported that during a site QA rudit, sever:1 activitien related to the earthfill placement 'for Unit 1 Emergency Raw Coollag Water (ERCW) spray pond were not performed in accordance with procedures. The primary concern of Region II relates to the performance of the quality control program. After discussion with RII, the licensee issued a stop work order for all earthfill placement activities in the Unit 1 ERCW vpray pond, pending evaluation and resolution of the audit findings. The stop work order will be confirmed by an IAL. Unit 1 is 117, complete. Media interest is not expected. The licensee nor the NRC plan to issue a news '. release. The State of Mississippi has been informed. ~~ Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from Tennessee Valley Authority at 8:40 a.m. on June 23, 1980.
