At 2:22 p.m. (EDT) on August 23, 2011, NRC had entered the Monitoring Mode following the declaration of an ALERT at the North Anna Power Station Units 1 and 2, located in Virginia, at 2:03 p.m. (Reference PNO-II 005, dated August 23, 2011). Additionally, a number of plants declared a Notice of Unusual Event (NOUE) due to seismic activity at the site. Cook and Palisades in Michigan.

Offsite power to North Anna Units 1 and 2 was restored on August 23, 2011, and the Emergency Diesel Generators were secured and placed in standby. North Anna downgraded from the ALERT to an NOUE emergency declaration at 11:16 a.m. on August 24, 2011. North Anna Unit 1 has commenced cooldown to cold shutdown. North Anna Unit 2 plans to initiate cooldown to cold shutdown upon Unit 1 reaching cold shutdown.

All other plants have exited the NOUE and no significant issues have been identified.

The NRC Region II Incident Response Center exited the monitoring mode at 11:40 a.m.; however, the staff continues to monitor plant activities, including direct on-site verification. The information presented herein is current as of 12:15 p.m., August 24, 2011.
