Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Mail Stop O-P 1-17 Washington, DC 20555-0001 SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION REPLACEMENT STEAM DRYER REPORT, UNIT 2 START-UP, 114% POWER TEST PLATEAU PLA-6752 Docket No. 50-388 The purpose of this submittal is to provide the attached evaluation of PPL Susquehanna, LLC's (PPL) Susquehanna SES (SSES) Unit 2 steam dryer performance and flow induced vibration (FIV) based on the data collected at the 114% power test plateau as required by the following Operating License Conditions.

License Condition 2.C.(20)(b)(4) requires:

"After reaching full CPPU, PPL shall obtain measurements from the MSL strain gauges and establish the steam dryer flow-induced vibration load fatigue margin for the facility, update the dryer stress report, if required, and re-establish the limit curve with the updated ACM load definition and revised instrument uncertainty, which will be provided to the NRC staff."

License Condition 2.C.(20(b)(7) requires:

"PPL shall submit a CPPU steam dryer report to the NRC. The report will be issued following completion of Unit 2 ascension to 114 % CLTP. The report shall include evaluations or corrective actions that were required to assure steam dryer structural integrity. Additionally, it shall include relevant data collected at each power step, comparisons to performance criteria (design predictions), and evaluations performed in conjunction with steam dryer structural integrity monitoring."

Summary:

This report provides a summary of the SSES Unit 2 replacement steam dryer monitoring instrumentation (Main Steam Line [MSL] Strain Gage) and flow induced vibration measurements at the targeted 114.0% licensed thermal power (CLTP) test plateau (3952 MWth).

Document Control Desk PLA-6752 The MSL strain gage data demonstrated that sufficient steam dryer margin (approximately 100%) to the ASME endurance limit of 13,600 PSI exists. The analysis of the piping accelerometer FIV data confirms that there is adequate margin to the ASME limits in the SSES Main Steam, Feedwater, and Reactor Recirculation system piping. contains proprietary information of PPL and is furnished in confidence solely for the purpose(s) stated in the report.
