Dear Mr. Schwencer:
The purpose of this letter is to request approval by the NRC of Code Case N-253-2 entitled "Construction of Class 2 or Class 3 Caqnnents for Elevated Temperature Service Section III, Division I".
This Code Case will be applied to the diesel engine exhaust gas expansion joint for the additional new diesel generator at Susquehanna SES.
The diesel engine exhaust gas expansion joint is subjected to 930'F gas at a pressure of 20 inches of water.
This elevated gas temperature requires the application of this Code Case since the material t~ature listed in Appendice 1, Table 1.7.1 of the ARK Code does not exceed 800'F.
We request your approval by November 18, 1983 in order to meet our production schedule.
