to letter requesting information on Nine Mile Point 2 In your recent letter, postmarked July 26, 1985, you requested.certain information on Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit 2.
Specifically, you requested:
1) the minutes of the public forum; and 2) the environmental impact statement (EIS).
On August 2, 1983, we held a meeting (which you attended) with members of the public at the Holiday Harbor Hotel in Oswego to discuss environmental issues related to Nine Mile Point Unit 2.
On October 19, 1983, we issued a meeting summary on our environmental site visit and the public meeting.
A transcript of the public meeting is attached to that meeting suIImary.
In May 1985, we issued the "Final Environmental Statement related to the operation of Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit No.
2 "(NUREG-1085).
This document is essentially the environmental impact statement for Nine Mile Point 2.
Both of these documents, as well as other documents related to the NRC review of Nine Mile Point 2 are available to the public for reading at the Penfield Library, State University College,
- Oswego, New York 13126.
The project manager, Mary Haughey, visited the Penfield Library on the day after the public meeting in August 1983, and found the library staff to be
'ery helpful in locating documents.
If you give the Penfield Library staff the identifying information on these documents as it is stated
- above, they should be able to help you locate them.
If you find these documents are not available for inspection at the Penfield Library, please contact Ms. Haughey.
She will arrange to have another set sent to them.

In addition, you raised a concern about waste disposal at Nine Mile Point 2.
On January 7, 1983, the Nuclear Waste Policy Act was enacted.
Section 302b requires licensed owners or generators of spent nuclear fuel or high-level waste to have a contract with the Secretary of Energy for the disposal of such waste.
The issuance of an operating license by the NRC is contingent 85070502 0

on appropriate arrangements for such disposal in accordance with the Nuclear Waste Policy Act.
