Dear Ms. Conroy:
This is in partial response to your letter dated July 22, 1986, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (F0IA), five categories of information concerning the NUMEC facilities later known as the Babcock &
Wilcox Company located in Apollo and Parks Township, PA. The item numbers listed below correspond to the numbers in ~your letter.
ITEM 1 - I have been informed by the staff that the Discard Reports (Effluent Release Data) for the period July 1976 through December 1985 are available for public inspection and copying at the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), 1717 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20555, and the Local Public Document Room (LPDR), Apollo Memorial Library, 219 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Apollo, PA 15613. Prior to July 1976, licensee information was reviewed at the licensee site by NRC ,
inspectors.
ITEM 2 - NUREG-0350 " Report on Strategic Special Nuclear Material Inventory Difference" and NUREG-0430 " Licensed Fuel Facility Status Reports" contain the information you requested. These reports are available for public inspection and copying at the PDR or for purchase from the National Technical Information Service, Springfield, VA 22161.
ITEM 5 - The four volumes of NUREG-0627 contain information you requested.
There is a publicly available version of this document which is already at the PDR. If, after you review the publicly available version, you need further information, you may submit a separate F0IA request for the non-public version. The non-public version contains classified information and information deemed proprietary pursuant _to 10 CFR 2.790(d) of NRC's regulations.
